Ada F. Orahood, 77, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016. She was born April 24, 1939, in Illinois to Harold Johnson and Helen (Freed) Johnson.
Ada was a hardworking, single mother who raised seven children. She enjoyed cooking for her family and was always happy to cook whatever was requested, when not cooking, Ada preferred KFC. Ada also had a green thumb and enjoyed being outdoors, planting plants and flowers. She lived by the golden rule and always treated others how she wanted to be treated. Ada enjoyed her time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ada is survived by four sons, Harold Steven Smith, of Mt. Vernon, Joseph Anthony of Oklahoma, Geoffrey Michael Timper of Clever, and Robert Charles Timper of Virginia; one daughter, Helen Irene Yarbrough of Springfield; eighteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Ada was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Barbara Jean Miller and Deana Lorene Campbell; and one sister, Barbara Jean Hobbs.
The family will have a memorial service at 2:00PM on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Pierce City, MO.
