Tipton
April 30, 1928 – June 4, 2023
Austin G. Tipton 95, of Bois D' Arc passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023. He was born on April 30, 1928, in Springfield, MO to George and Blanche (Andrews) Tipton. On October 22, 1951, Austin and Rowena Stacey were united in marriage and shared 25 years together, before Rowena's passing in 1976. Austin and Billie Poplin were united in marriage on December 25, 1983, and they have shared over 39 years together.
Austin faithfully served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. He was blessed that his hobby was his living and he loved all things farm. In his younger years, Austin also enjoyed team roping and quail hunting. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Austin was preceded in death by his wife, Rowena Alice (Stacey) Tipton; son, Roger Lee; sisters, Marie Hurley, Hester Sheridan, Lou Davis; and stepdaughter, Gail Johnson.
Austin is survived by his wife Billie Tipton; children, Tom Tipton and wife Kathy, Belinda Slagle and husband Charles; stepchildren, Jean Rose and husband Gary, Terri Johnson and husband Glenn Seppanen, Mark Johnson and wife Alisa; grandchildren, Jason L. Tipton and wife Piper, Joshua L. Tipton and wife Amber, Stacey Slagle, Austin Slagle and wife Margaret, Emily Slagle; step grandchildren, Jill Johnson, Becky Quintana and husband Esteban, Matt Rose and wife Meghan, Elizabeth Rose, Madeline Rose and spouse EV; great grandchildren, Jaci Tipton, Clara Tipton, Reece Slagle, Harrison Slagle; step great grandchildren, Reid Rose, Beauden Rose; sister, Pearl Campbell; beloved dog, Mimi; nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
Visitation will be 1:00PM until service time, Friday, June 9, 2023, at Center Baptist Church, Ash Grove. Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM, at the church with burial to follow at Clear Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to American Cancer Society and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home, Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, PO Box 217, Ash Grove, MO 65604.
