Billy D. Hayter, 89, of Walnut Grove, went to his Heavenly home and joined with his beloved Charlotte, on Saturday, February 4, 2023.

Billy, the son of Howard and Lola (Holman) Hayter, was born on April 10, 1933, in Polk County, Missouri. On December 25, 1959, Billy and Charlotte Prater were married and shared over 59 years together, before Charlotte's passing in 2019.

Billy was a life-long area resident. He graduated from Dadeville High School in 1951. As a teenager, Billy was saved and baptized in Turkey Creek. He and Charlotte raised their family on their farm in Walnut Grove and Billy also worked for MoDot, retiring after 26 years. He enjoyed being outdoors and keeping busy. Billy enjoyed going to the Walnut Grove sporting events, and rarely missed a softball game, which he rode his lawn mower to. Billy loved his family and especially loved playing Rook with his family. Billy will be missed by all those that knew and loved him.

Billy is survived by his children, Doug Hayter and wife Sonya, Brenda Keyser and husband Greg, Brad Hayter and wife Michelle, Scott Hayter and wife Clara, Cheryl Steeley and husband Stan; grandchildren, Cameron, Corbin, Cailynn, Zhenya, Alex, Ruslan, "Z," Clay, Ellen, Grace, Caleb, Cade, Cortney; great grandchildren, Scarlett, Henry, Rose, Pierce, Beckham, Banks, Findley, Avery, Riley, Danny; nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Hayter; parents; Howard and Lola Hayter; siblings, Junior Hayter, Johnny Hayter, Wilbur Hayter, and Rosalie Hill.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 7, 2023, from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Walnut Grove, MO. Graveside services will be Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at 10:00AM at Turkey Creek Cemetery, Walnut Grove, MO.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Billy's name to Turkey Creek Cemetery and may be left at the funeral home.
