Bobby Ray "Bob" Simmons was born August 16, 1949, in Springfield, Missouri, and departed this life at the age of 71 on Monday, August 2, 2021, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield after a short illness.
He was the son of George and Imogene Simmons, the brother of George, Les, and John, the husband of Lonez (Sam), the father of Bobby Ray Jr., and Kimberly, and the grandfather of Vivian, Hannah, and Lexie. Bob was affectionally known as "Bud" in his early years.
Bob faithfully served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran. After his time in the military, he went on to be a heavy equipment operator most of his life. He retired in 2001 and he and Sam moved the family back home to the Ozarks. Bob and Sam celebrated their 50 th wedding anniversary this year.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his brothers, George, Leslie (Les), and John Simmons.
He is survived by his dear wife Lonez (Sam), his son Bobby Ray Jr., his daughter Kimberly Ireland and her husband Shane of Pleasant Hope, and three grandchildren, Vivian Simmons of California, Hannah Simmons of Humansville, and Lexie Ireland of Pleasant Hope. Many dear friends also mourn his passing.
Graveside services will be 10:00AM, Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Greene Lawn Cemetery, Walnut Grove, with Rev. Scotty Killingsworth officiating.
