Carl E. Owen, 88, of Ash Grove, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022. He was born on August 22, 1933, in Maysville, Missouri, to Harold B. "Hob" and Vada Elizabeth (Stockton) Owen. On August 22, 1958, Carl and June Kerns were united in marriage and shared over 63 years together.

Carl graduated from Maysville High School. He faithfully served in the United States Army and was stationed in Japan at the end of the Korean Conflict. He and June later moved to Ash Grove and Carl was an agent for MFA Oil Company. No matter the time of day or weather, Carl made sure that the farmers had fuel to work and that homes had fuel to keep their families warm. Carl had a servant's heart and it showed in his work, community, church, and family. He was active in the Ash Grove community in many ways. He drove a school bus for many years, coached, umpired, and ran the clock at different sporting events, was on the park board and brought the basketball and tennis courts to the park, and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Carl was honored with the Ash Grove Good Citizen Award, and it was well deserved. He also was active in his church. Carl was a deacon and elder and served anywhere he was needed, sometimes fixing things, and always mowing. His garden was a labor of love, and he shared his harvest with the community, but most of the corn from his garden went to the church to help with bereavement dinners. Carl enjoyed cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, Mizzou Tigers, Ash Grove Pirates, and any team his children and grandchildren were on. He adored his family and getting to spend time with them. They made many memories camping, deep sea fishing, and even boogie boarding into his 80s.

Carl is survived by his wife, June Owen; sons, Douglas Owen and wife Peggy, David Owen and wife Michelle; daughters, Carla Morales and husband Irving, Christy Miller and Justin Riedle, Cathy Owen; grandsons, Christopher, Daniel, Mike, Evan, Liam, Parker, Tim, Brandon, Blake, Ricky; granddaughters, Jennifer, Sarah, Kellee; great grandchildren, Caden, Trinity, Vincent, Carson and some on the way; sister, Beulah Mills; brothers-in-law, Keith Meek, Lloyd Kerns and wife Becky; and sister in law, Doris Faye Bunker; several nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

Carl was preceded in death by his siblings, Kenneth Owen, Merlin Owen, Harlan Owen, Jim Owen, Jean Meek, and Helen Drury; daughter-in-law, Lori Minor.

Visitation will be from noon until service time, Friday, March 4, 2022, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove. Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM, at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Ash Grove Cemetery with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to American Red Cross and may be left at the funeral home.
