Charles Lee Edmonson, 89, of Walnut Grove, MO went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. He was born on September 15, 1928 at Walnut Grove, Missouri to Joe Allen and Zepha Mae (Wheeler) Edmonson. On July 23, 1949, Charles and Irma Mae Renshaw were united in marriage by the Rev. J. F. Fryer in Miller, MO. To this union were born two daughters, Shirley and Candy.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; wife Irma M. (Renshaw) Edmonson; brother, Wheeler Loren Edmonson and two sisters, Francis Maurine Long and Jo Jean Forshee; second wife, Florence M. Edmonson. He is survived by his two daughters, Shirley Ann VanStavern and Charles Salveter, Candy Sue Flint and Rick Flint; five grandchildren, Darin Paul VanStavern and Becky, Brian Allen DeClue and Marisa, Melissa Lynn Dawson and Rodney, Tiara Slack, and Tony Flint; great grandchildren, Marin and Taeo DeClue, Jacob VanStavern, Grady and Kaden Dawson; brother, John Allen Edmonson and Juanita; and wife, Jean Edmonson. His extended family includes brother-in-law and sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and stepchildren.
His love of farming showed as he actively farmed until he was 87 years old. In addition to farming, he welded and sandblasted for 16 years at Trailmobile, drove a Willard school bus, owned and operated a Lime and Fertilizer hauling business, welded pickup stock racks, and was always lending a helping hand to friends and neighbors.
Charles served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, music director, Sunday school director, and on numerous committees and mission trips at Harold Baptist Church and Willard First Baptist Church. He initiated the church outreach ministry at Willard Care Center and Bristol Manor and served as coordinator of this ministry. Charles and Irma loved people and were excited to host the Community Brush Arbor meetings for several years on their farm where many friends and neighbors gathered to worship together. Not only did he serve the Lord but he also served his family.
For over 50 years, Charles was a member of the O'Sullivan Masonic Lodge, Walnut Grove, MO.
Charles will truly be missed by his devoted family and by all whose lives he touched. May God welcome this faithful follower to his final destination.
Visitation will be 2:00PM, Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Walnut Grove, MO. Funeral Services will be 10:00AM, Monday, October 23, 2017 at Willard First Baptist Church, Willard, MO with burial and Masonic services to follow at Greene Lawn Cemetery, Walnut Grove, MO.
