Clara Fern Rummel, 94 of Springfield passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024. Clara Fern was born on April 12, 1930, in Eudora, MO to Fern Crit and Clara Madge (O'Neal) Hayter. On June 4, 1954, Clara and J Wendel Rummel were united in marriage and shared over 57 loving  years together, before his passing in 2011.

Clara was a long-time Missouri educator teaching home economics at Walnut Grove, Bois d' Arc, Kirkwood, MO, and the Springfield School district, where she retired from, after teaching many years at Glendale High School. She was an excellent cook and baker!  Clara loved playing cards with special friends, especially Margaret McNiel, Billie Spencer, and the Soggy Bottom Girls. A good slot machine was never a bad idea either. Above all, she adored her family and spending time with them. She was treasured by her family and friends and will be missed terribly! When you think of Clara you think of a smile. Clara was truly an example of how to live a Christ like life through love and friendship to others. She taught her family how to live, not take offense, and to always forgive each other fully. Clara lived by the motto, "you can't cry over spilled milk" and "we will cross that bridge when we come to it." We love you mother and God and Dad gained their treasure back in Heaven.

Clara is survived by her son, Ted Rummel and wife Mary; daughter, Tammie Seiferd; son-in-law, Richard Seiferd; grandchildren, Nikki Floyd (Nate), Katie Wright (Craig), Bradley Rummel (Kelsey), Linsey Chandler (Coyt), Andrew Seiferd (Madison); great grandchildren, Ansley, Bowen, and Cambry Floyd, Elliott and Evalynn Wright, Raelynn Rummel, Carver, and Lane Seiferd; brother, Bill Hayter (Pat); nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Fern and Madge Hayter; husband, J Wendel Rummel; grandson, Adrian Seiferd; brother, Bernard Hayter and wife Alluwee; sister, Wilma Boggs and husband Russell; along with her Rummel brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Visitation will be 6:00PM-8:00PM, Monday, May 20, 2024, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Walnut Grove. Funeral services will be 11:00AM, Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Greene Lawn Cemetery, Walnut Grove.
