Floy Darlene Godfrey, 85, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022.  She was born on September 17, 1936, in Wesley, AR, to Tom and Mona (Smith) Cobb.  On December 23, 1997, Darlene and John Godfrey were united in marriage.  They shared over 21 years together before John's passing in 2019.

Darlene moved to the area as a late teen coming to Springfield to Draughan's Business College. She taught for 25 years for the Marshfield School district, most of those years, teaching 2 ^nd grade. Darlene was always active in a church and was often teaching Sunday school. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her.

Darlene is survived by her children, Jami Gay and husband Dan, James Kirk Norton and wife Phebe, Russell Smith, Laura Smith; daughter-in-law, Jan Smith; grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah, Seth, Breanna, Isabel, Michelle; 2 great grandchildren, Michael and Esther; sisters, Judy Dudley and husband Roland, Kathie Battenfield and husband Bruce; nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

Darlene is preceded in death by her first husband, James Lee Norton; husband, John Godfrey; and son, Stan Smith.

Visitation will be from 10:00AM until service time, Monday, April 11, 2022, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove, MO. Memorial services will begin at 11:00AM at the funeral home.
