Dennis (Denny)
Ray Gold
June 21, 1951 – June 17, 2023
Dennis Ray Gold, 71, of Walnut Grove passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023. He was born June 21, 1951, in Nixa, MO to Raymond and Edna (Evans) Gold. On February 12, 1972, Denny and Sandy Cunningham were united in marriage and shared over 51 years together.
Denny was a man of many talents. He could do just about anything, and he did it all well. Denny was the director of electric, gas, and water for City Utilities. He put his engineering skills to good use and made positive, lasting impacts on those around him. Denny was part of starting Sac River Cowboy Church. He spent months planning and building the Event Center and was one of the original circuit riding preachers. At the beginning of every service, he started it off with a joke or a lie, quite the storyteller. Denny was very creative and enjoyed painting, writing songs, and he was a cowboy poet. Part of Denny's creativity came out in his love of music. He was a member of several bluegrass groups in the area and a luthier, fixing fiddles from all over. Denny also loved adventure, whether it was motorcycles, biking, jeeps, riding horses, hunting, or fishing, he loved it all. More than any tangible thing, Denny loved his family. He loved driving his great granddaughter, whom he nicknamed Smiley, around in his chair. Denny was a wonderful husband, dad, and Papa. He will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Edna Gold; son, Nathan Gold; brother-in-law, Jim Rantz; and sister-in-law, Debbie Emerson.
Denny is survived by his wife, Sandy Gold; son, Jonathan Gold; grandson, Levi Gold and wife Lacey; granddaughter, Taylor Gold; great granddaughter, Brynlee Gold; brother, Dwain Lee Gold and wife Mary Jo; sister, Brenda Rantz; in-laws, Mr. & Mrs. Glenn Cunningham; daughter-in-law, Ginger Gold; nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many friends.
Visitation will be 9:00AM until service time, Friday, June 23, 2023, at Sac River Cowboy Church Event Center, Springfield. Celebration of Life services will begin at 11:00AM, at the event center.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Frazier Cemetery or ALS Association 1300 Wilson Blvd, Suite 600, Arlington, VA. 22209 or may be left with or mailed to the funeral home, Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, PO Box 217, Ash Grove, MO 65604.
