Donald
"Don" Glen Hayter, 74, of Springfield, Mo. passed away on Wednesday evening, December 30, 2015, at 11:30 p.m. in his home
following an extended illness.
Don, the son of Wilbur and Mary Elizabeth (Holman) Hayter, was born
July 27, 1941 near Walnut Grove, Mo. He was a lifelong resident of
the Springfield, area. He was a graduate of Hillcrest High School in
1959. and attended S.M.S. for a year. He was a member of the Glidewell Baptist Church. Don was retired after 40 years of service from Consumer Grocery of Springfield. He had served as general manager for numerous Springfield locations and, at his retirement, he was Manager of the Aurora Store at the closing of the stores.
Donald Hayter and Bytha Adkins were united in marriage on March 16, 1962. To this union three children were born. Together Don and Bytha were privileged to share over 53 years. He was preceded in death, by his parents, infant son, Steven and brother Gary Max Hayter.
He is survived by his loving family: wife Bytha of the home; son, Mark and wife Lesley Hayter of Willard, Mo. and daughter, Linda and
husband Chad Overcash of Springfield, Mo.; 2 grandchildren: Katelyn Hayter and Keara Hayter; and great grandchild, Zaelah Hayter; his sister, Janice and husband Rick McDonald of Nixa, Mo.; nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins.
Services will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Wilson Brim Daniel Chapel, Walnut Grove with Pastor Rich Jenkins officiating and Dr. Randall Humphrey giving the Eulogy, interment following in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Aldrich, Mo.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Monday evening
in the Walnut Grove Chapel.
Memorial Contributions may be given, in his memory, to the Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation 610 E. Battlefield Springfield, Mo. or
the donor's choice.
