Dorothy Helen (Putney) Hughes, the daughter of James Edgar and Elizabeth Ann (McWilliams) Putney, was born March 21, 1924 in Springfield, MO. She passed away Thursday evening at the Cox Medical Center South at 10:27 p.m. Her age was 91 years, 3 months and 4 days.

Dorothy grew up in the Springfield area, moving to Ash Grove her senior year, graduating from Ash Grove High School in 1941.

Dorothy and Arthur Hughes were united in marriage on July 17, 1943. To this union 2 children were born. Arthur preceded her in death as well as her children, Davis P. And Cary Lou Hughes, her parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Dorothy was a member of the Willard 1st Baptist Church and Willard Senior Citizens Group.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Vickie Hughes of Walnut Grove; grandchildren: Leslie Stilley of Walnut Grove and Davis D. and wife Stacy Hughes of Willard; 6 great-grandchildren: Victoria, Rebecca, Nicolas and Caleb Stilley, Kacie and Chloe Hughes.

Services will be held at Willard 1st Baptist Church 2:00 p.m. Thursday July 9, 2015. Burial will follow in Wesley Cemetery, Willard.

Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service.
