Edward "Ed" Alvin Stokes, 90 of Ash Grove, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023. Ed was born on March 25, 1933, in St. Martins, England to Clifford Roy and Margaret (Matthews) Stokes. On April 17, 1982, Ed and Jacquelynn "Jacque" Stokes were united in marriage and shared over 41 years together.

Ed had a wicked sense of humor, quick wit, loved reading, and he was always learning. Ed enjoyed traveling the world and loved flying his sailplane. He also was one hell of an artist. Above all, Ed adored his grandchildren and taught them all how to play chess. To know Ed, was to love him.

Ed is survived by his wife, Jacque Stokes of the home; children, Roy Stokes and wife Michelle of IL, Alison Matthews of IL, Melynda Hess and husband Dean of WI, Marjory Wilguess and husband Gregory of Ash Grove; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sister, Jilly Waddington and husband David of England, other family and many friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sylvia.
