Edward Stanley
Grant
June 10, 1936 – May 18, 2023
Edward Stanley Grant 86, of Ash Grove, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023. Stanley was born on June 10, 1936, to Wilbur and Mary Aileen (Berry) Grant in Dade County, Missouri. On May 12, 1956, Stanley married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Anna Johnson and they shared over 65 years together, until her passing in 2021.
Stanley was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Ash Grove High School in 1954. Along the way, he worked at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, KS, Royal McBee Typewriter and Custom Metal Craft in Springfield, MO. While he and his wife Ruthie also ran a 140-acre farm, he went on to become a career screw machine operator. In 1976, he opened his own business in Ash Grove, Unique Metal Turning Co., Inc. After retiring emeritus in 1998, his two sons, Paul and David, still proudly carry on the family business 47 years later.
If you hung around Stanley long, you were sure to hear a story or two, and if the story was good enough, you might hear it more than once. Whether a friend or foe, you would often get called a dipstick or a dipweed, and if you messed up, Charlie Brown. He loved to mess with you and was always full of teasing and sarcasm.
Shortly after retiring, he and Ruthie enjoyed traveling for a while. They both loved the Ash Grove Sunshine Center and usually frequented there daily for lunch and enjoyed playing cards with friends.
Stanley was a man of faith and prior to becoming a member of Center Baptist Church of Ash Grove, he attended Hopewell Baptist Church of Everton from an early age and served as a deacon there for many years. He loved his family, his church family, and the Lord with all his heart. He was a good and faithful servant. Stanley will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Stanley is survived by his children, Paul Grant and wife Pam of Everton, Linda Grant of Aurora, David Grant and wife Kim of Ash Grove, Christina Grant of Ash Grove; 9 grandchildren; 17great grandchildren; brother, Jim Grant of Kansas City; sisters, Mary Frances Welsh of Ketchikan, AK, Jane Fihn of Concord, CA; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of family and many friends.
Stanley was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Anna (Johnson) Grant; parents; brothers, Larry Grant, Morris Berry Grant, and Bill Wayne Grant.
Visitation will be 4:00PM-6:00PM Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove. Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Sunday, May 28, 2023, at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Sinking Creek Cemetery, Everton, MO.
