Edward "Glen" Rust, 93, of Ash Grove, MO, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016. Glen was born July 19, 1923 in Solo, MO, the son of Robert Edward Rust and Stella O. (Sigman) Rust.
He was united in marriage to Violet Harmon Rust on August 16, 1942. They were privileged to share 74 years together.
Glen loved his church and loved serving in his church. He had served for over 50 years as a deacon. He also enjoyed going on mission trips, one of his most memorable, was the mission trip to Mexico. Glen also enjoyed traveling to Hawaii to see his son Tommy, while he was stationed there, while in the U.S. Navy. Family fishing trips to Canada were also a favorite with Glen. It was always a great time away creating wonderful memories together. Glen also had the privilege of traveling with Tommy, to Washington D.C., on the Honor Flight. When Glen was not traveling, he enjoyed spending time at home with his family. Glen enjoyed gardening and was never in a big rush, but always dedicated to his work. A tradition of reading the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, "The Christmas Story," is now a treasured memory. Glen will be fondly remembered and will be greatly missed.
Glen is survived by his wife, Violet; four sons, Ronald E Rust and wife Dana, of Springfield, Daniel C. Rust, of Aldrich, MO, Troy G. Rust and wife Susan, of Bois D'Arc, Tommy L. Rust and wife Shelly, of Ash Grove; one foster daughter, Carmela Jones, of Willard, one daughter-in-law, Lisa Clinton and husband Kevin, of Everton; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; one sister, Madge Elmore, of Houston, MO; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Richard "Joe" Rust; three brothers, Wayne Rust, Ray Rust, and Bobby Rust.
Visitation will be held from 6:00PM-8:00PM, Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove, MO. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM, Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at The Ash Grove Assembly of God, with burial to follow at Ash Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Ash Grove Assembly of God, Building Fund and may be left at the funeral home.
