It was a beautiful day on May 23rd, 1929, when Francis LaNelle "Nell" was born to Lee and Louisa (Kerit) Winnard near Oklahoma City, Okla.  and departed this life on March 3, 2022.  She was welcomed by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.  She was the 6th of 7.

She was born during the Great Depression, so as a small child she learned what hard work was.  She learned how to sew and was able to make beautiful clothes.  She was an avid Gardner and was able to preserve the vegy's she harvested. She was a woman of many talents. On her 18th birthday, she left home and went to Oklahoma City.  Her first job was at Borden's Ice Cream shop where she met Dick Stander. They were married June 18th, 1948. In 1951 their son George was born. In 1953 they moved to Springfield, Mo. She worked at Cortez restaurant and other jobs. In Oct. 1967 she started working at the Shady Inn Restaurant and continued there for 33+ years when they went out of business on Jan. 1, 2001. She had numerous people requesting for her to wait on them.

Proceeding her in death is her parents, 2 brothers, James (Mary)and Raymond (Pearl), 3 sisters, Hazel (Clyde) Killmon,

Inez (Russell) Vanderburg, and Mary (Dean)Lanford and a brother-in-law, Max Cox.

She is survived by Dick, her husband of 73 years. Son, George, Sister, Pat Cox, 6 grandchildren, Shane, Jessi, Joshua, James, Chloe, and Kyra, 10 gg grandchildren and 1 ggg grandchild, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and past co-workers.

She will be remembered by her kind deeds.  Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath.

Visitation will be 1:00PM-1:45PM, Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove MO. Graveside services will be 2:00PM, Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Ash Grove Cemetery.
