Mrs. Genevieve Fortner Creed, age 95, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the Ash Grove Healthcare Facility. Genevieve was born May 23, 1923, in Morrisville, Missouri, to Delbert and Grace Christy Hall.

Genevieve was married to Winfred (Duke) Fortner in 1941 and to this union 3 children were born. They shared over 26 years together before Duke's passing in 1967. In 1986, Genevieve and Frances Creed were united in marriage and they shared over 27 years together until Frances passed in 2013.

Genevieve was a homemaker. She was formerly employed at Lily Tulip of Springfield and, for 25 years, worked as a Registered Nurse at Cox North Hospital. She was a member of High Street Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Larry Fortner and his wife, Helen, Terry Fortner and his wife, Debbie, and Tom Fortner; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Genevieve is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Winfred (Duke) Fortner and Frances Creed; and 2 sisters.

Visitation will be from 10:00AM until service time on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM at the funeral home, with Rick Walls officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
