Gregory Dean Long, 68, of Hemingford, Nebraska, formerly of Walnut Grove, Missouri, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 21, 2026, after an extended illness.

Greg was born on September 8, 1957, to Harold and Eula Long in Independence, Missouri, where they lived until 1970.  The family then moved to Willard, Missouri where they purchased a dairy farm.  Greg attended Ash Grove High School and graduated in 1975.

On August 6, 1976, Greg married the love of his life, Rebecca Mae Whitehead (Reba). They were blessed with almost 50 years of marriage.  The Lord gifted Greg and Reba with three children; David, Russell, and Kasandra.  Greg was also bestowed with eight grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

Greg enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, gardening, and tending to his cows.  Gifted with musical talent, it was always a pleasure to hear Greg play his accordion. He could often be found listening to bluegrass gospel and singing along. Greg was an avid reader and never had his Bible far out of reach. As an antique collector, Greg accumulated many fabulous finds that he added to his stamp and coin collections.  In 2022, Greg moved to Hemingford, Nebraska to enjoy retirement and spend time with the kids.  Everywhere Greg went he touched the lives of many with his playful and gentle spirit.  Fond of a good joke and willing to be the clown to make others smile, there was hardly a time when he couldn't make someone laugh.

Gregory Long was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Eula Long and his son, Russell Long. Greg is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Long, son David Long and wife Melissa, daughter Kasandra Niemeier and husband Joey, and grandchildren, Wriley, Delilah, Abigail, Archer, Huckleberry, Ember, Bridger, and Charlotte.

Services will be held at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home in Ash Grove, Missouri with visitation on Friday, February 27 ^th from 5:30-7:30 pm and funeral services on Saturday, February 28 ^th at 2 p.m. Graveside service to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Willard, Missouri.
