Harold R.
Johnson
June 30, 1929 – August 19, 2023
Harold R Johnson was born June 30,1929 to Othar and Opha Johnson. He went to reunite with his wife, Ruth, on August 19, 2023, in his home, where his great granddaughter, Raven "Nikki" Dillard, took care of him for the last year.
He grew up in the Ash Grove area where he worked for the feed store. All that knew him called him Noosey. He enlisted in the Army in 1951 and fought in the Korean War, where he was wounded and came home with 2 purple hearts.
After he got home, he met the love of his life, Ruth Chilcutt. They got married on May 22,1953 and they had 3 children from their happy marriage, son David and daughters Pam and Phyllis.
He drove a truck for many years, if he wasn't hauling propane, he was hauling bread, and he took an early retirement at the age of 57, so him and Ruth could travel and go camping. He was always known as Green Hornet on the cb.
He also loved working in the hay field with his son-in-law Roy Dillard and helping him with his cattle.
He loved the Lord and going to church. He was a member of John's Chapel Church.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Pam Dillard (husband Roy) of Republic and Phyllis Johnson (husband Gary) of Stockton and daughter-in-law Linda Johnson of Texas. 2 Sisters Dona Johnson of Ash Grove and Betty Glenn of Everton, 3 sisters-in-law Dorothy Johnson of Ash Grove, Barbara Wilson of Illinois and Bonnie Huffman of Springfield. 7 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 23 great great grandchildren, 2 adopted great great grandchildren. All of his nieces and nephew and many friends (too many to name, he never knew a stranger).
He was proceeded in death by his wife Ruth and son David, his father Othar and mother Opha, father-in-law and mother-in-law Henry and Dora Chilcutt, 2 brothers James and Clarence Johnson. A great great granddaughter Zoey Goodnight, and 3 brother-in-laws Lloyd Glenn, Charles Curry and Howard Wilson.
Visitation will be 7:00PM – 8:00PM, Friday, August 25, 2023, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove. Funeral services will be 11:00AM, Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Johns Chapel Fundamental Methodist Church, with burial to follow at Johns Chapel Cemetery, Ash Grove.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be given to the Wounded Warrior Project and may be left at the funeral home.
