James Michael "Mike" Long, 67 of Everton, passed away, Thursday, January 7, 2021.  He was born on February 6, 1953 to James Charles and Dorothy Reba (Brookshire) Long in Blount County, TN. On December 14, 1973, Mike and Patricia Ann were united in marriage and shared over 47 years together.

Mike was a very intelligent, creative, God loving man. He worked for IBM as an IT specialist and he used that knowledge to help spread God's love. After completing the New Tribe Missions Bible College in Jackson MI, top in his class, Mike and Pat dedicated themselves to serve as traveling missionaries in the bush of Papua New Guinea opening up the ministry to a lost and hopeless tribe whom they loved dearly. After completing the mission, Mike and Pat were transferred to New Tribes Mission headquarters in Sanford, FL to begin networking their first email system for all their missionaries around the world to communicate more effectively. After the work was completed with New Tribes Mission, Mike was the Pastor of a Cowboy Church in Lenoir City, TN. Mike loved Cowboy Church and God's creation. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping, furniture making and hiking the Great Smokey Mountains. Additionally, Mike was very creative. He wrote poems, loved to create in the kitchen, enjoyed leather crafting, and played the violin, guitar, and piano. His mind was always wanting to learn something new, a true scholar. Mike adored his family and spending time with them. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
