James R. Stanton, 87, of Ash Grove, passed away Monday, January 9, 2023. He was born in Ash Grove, MO on March 16, 1935, to Dewey and Merva (Baker) Stanton. On October 19, 1957, James and Ursula Kaiser were united in marriage and shared over 56 years together before Ursula's passing in 2014.

James was a life-long area resident, graduating Ash Grove High School in 1954. In 1955 he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Bad Kissingen, Germany until 1958. He felt that every person should join the military because it helped him become a better man. While in Germany, he met the love of his life, Ursula. Upon returning home with his new bride, James and Ursula purchased a farm and began the process of bringing Ursula's mother to the United States. James continued to grow his farm and throughout the years he had dairy cattle, hogs, and beef cattle. He believed in giving and tending to the land. James was a dedicated provider for his beloved family.

James is survived by daughters, Margot Johnson and husband Mark, Helga Wise and husband Allen Pearcey; granddaughter, Millie Shipley; grandson, J.J. Wise and fiancé, Hannah Louis; great grandsons, Isaiah, Malachi, Jeremiah; brother, William Stanton; other family, and many friends.

James was preceded in death by wife, Ursula Stanton; son, Raymond Stanton; parents, Dewey and Merva Stanton; mother-in-law, Agnes Kaiser; brothers, Edward and Robert Stanton.

Visitation will be 12:30PM-1:30PM, Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove. Graveside services will be 2:00PM, Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Ash Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ash Grove Healthcare Facility Auxiliary and can be left at the funeral home.
