James Vernon (J.V.) Trantham, the son of John Vernon Trantham and Maggie (Smith) Trantham, was born November 6, 1923 and passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016, in his home, in Willard.

J.V and Florence Trantham were united in marriage on February 11, 1946. Together, J.V. and Florence were privileged to share over 66 years of marriage before Florence's passing in 2012.

J.V. was a lifelong residence of Willard and spent his whole life living on his family's dairy farm. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, and any other activity that allowed him to be outdoors. J.V. loved his family and friends. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

J.V. is survived by four children, Allan Trantham and wife Beverly, Danny Trantham and wife Marcie, Janie Baker and husband Mark, Jerry Trantham and wife Amy, all of Willard; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and many friends.

J.V. was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Mildred Ashby and Evelyn Horak.

Visitation will be Friday, December 16, 2016 from 6:00PM-8:00PM at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Walnut Grove, MO. Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 10:00AM at Lone Star Baptist Church, Willard, MO, with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lone Star Baptist Church and may be left at the funeral home.
