Jimmy (Jim)
Lee Frieze
October 8, 1935 – December 30, 2020
Jimmy Lee (Jim) Frieze, 85 of Ash Grove, passed away, Wednesday, December 30, 2020. He was born on October 8, 1935 to Carl and Hazel (Shouse) Frieze. On August 17, 1957, Jim and Martha Lou King were united in marriage and shared over 63 years together.
Jim was a lifelong area resident. When Jim was a teenager, he worked for the Brim Funeral Home and continued working there after the Brims retired and the Noblett and Daniel Families took over. He faithfully served in the United States Army, training at Fort Leonard Wood and was stationed in Fort Carson. Jim worked for several Chevrolet Dealerships in the area including his father's Carl Frieze Chevrolet in Ash Grove. Jim also was the first administrator of the Ash Grove Nursing Home retiring after 22 years. In addition to working full-time, after Jim and Martha Lou were married, Jim helped operate the King family farm and continued until very recently. Jim was a faithful and active member of Ash Grove United Methodist Presbyterian Church. Jim enjoyed watching sports, especially the rodeo, Cardinals Baseball, and MSU Bears Basketball, but his favorite activities to watch were the ones that his grandchildren were participating in. He loved having coffee with the guys at Mays Mart and all the many times of visiting. Jim was a quiet ambassador for Ash Grove. He was always helping and getting things accomplished but he didn't need the public praise. Jim was one of the founders and volunteers of the Ash Grove Ambulance District, a volunteer firefighter and was part of establishing the Ash Grove Park. He was so kind and always willing to lend a helping hand. Jim will be fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him.
Jim is survived by his wife, Martha Lou; children, Carla Wallace and husband Randell, Roger Frieze and wife Jenny; grandchildren, Amanda Wallace and fiancé Quentin James, Caroline Wallace, Devon Frieze, Kegan Frieze; brother, Denny Frieze and wife Anita; nieces, Susan Frieze, Sarah Loughery and husband Carl; other family and many friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Hazel Frieze.
Visitation will be from 1:00PM-4:00PM, Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove. Funeral services will be 10:30AM, Monday, January 4, 2021 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Ash Grove Cemetery, Ash Grove, MO. The family requests that all visitors wear masks and social distance.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Jim's name to Ash Grove United Methodist Presbyterian Church and may be left at the funeral home.
