Obituary

John Braxton Bowers, 27, of Willard, Mo. passed away in his home unexpectedly on April 23, 2015.

"Braxton" as he was known, the son of Jeff Bowers and Krystie Dawn Bird Jensen was born September 4, 1987 in Springfield, Mo. He was a lifelong resident of the Willard and Springfield areas. He was an honor graduate of Willard High School in 2006, where he was very active in the music department and was awarded the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award. He was a professional musician, in writing and performing. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Willard Ward. He served as a missionary for his church in the Washington D. C. South Mission.

To the crowd in front of the stage he was the red-hot guitarist, the fast-fingered piano man, the all-around gifted musician with a pitch-perfect ear; amazingly talented, yet humble about his blessing. To those who knew him best he was a kind-hearted, gentle soul who absolutely loved children. We called him "Nella" (because he preferred vanilla over chocolate) or simply "Lil' Fella". At 27, he has left us too soon. There is a gap in our lives that will never be filled. Whether watching a Nascar race, recording music, or discussing a Fox News program, Braxton was always exciting to converse with. Thank you Braxton for the music, the love, and the many years full of great memories.

He is survived by his loving family: father, Jeff and wife Brenda Bowers of Willard, Mo. and mother, Krystie and husband Kim Jensen of Gilbert, Arizona, Brother; Brandon Bowers, Chandler, Arizona; Sister, Shantia and husband David Mecham of Orem, Utah; Paternal Grandparents, Jerry and Sarah Bowers, Willard, Mo.; Maternal Grandparents, Tom and Peggy Bird of Ash Grove, Mo.; numerous step-brothers and sisters; loving aunts, Zanna Frost (and husband Matt) of North Salt Lake Utah, and Melanie Hansen (and husband Marlan) of Solon, Iowa; and ten cousins, whom he dearly loved and who loved and adored him.

Services will be held on Friday May 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Willard Ward, with Bishop Devon Jarvis officiating with interment following in Clear Creek Cemetery near Willard, Mo. under the care and direction of Wilson Brim-Daniel Funeral Home, Ash Grove, Mo.

The family will receive friends in the Willard Ward on Thursday evening April 30, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
