John A. Godfrey, 87, of Ash Grove, passed away, on Thursday, April 11, 2019.

John the son of John and Sallie (Timmons) Godfrey, was born in Dallas, TX, on September 15, 1931. John married Darlene Cobb on December 23, 1997, they enjoyed 21 years together.

John faithfully served in the United States Army and graduated from Texas Tech University. He worked for the United States Government as an inspector of the cotton industry, which allowed him to travel throughout the U.S. John then moved to the Ash Grove area and became a cattle rancher. He was a member of First Baptist Ash Grove and a member of the Masonic Lodge, Brownfield, TX. John will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

John was preceded in death by his parents and step-son, Stan Smith.

John is survived by his wife, Darlene; step-children, Jami Gay and husband Dan, James Kirk Norton and wife Phebe, Russell Smith, Laura Smith; several step- grandchildren; other family and many friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 16, 2019 from 1:00PM until service time in the Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove, MO. Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Ash Grove Cemetery, Ash Grove, MO.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Baptist Children's Home and may be left at the funeral home.
