Larry Don Gateley, 71 of Everton, passed away on Sunday morning March 13, 2016 at his home, following an extended illness.
Larry, the son of William Rex and Suzie Belle (Hunt) Gateley, was born September 20, 1944 in Springfield, Mo. He grew up in the area and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1962 and attended Drury University for two years. He a carman for Frisco and Burlington Railroad for 24 years. He an Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and member of the Everton American Legion.
He was a member of the Ash Grove United Methodist - Presbyterian Church.
Larry Gateley and Sheila Beasley were united in marriage on September 14, 1991. To this union five children were born. Together
they were privileged to share 24 years. He was preceded in death by
his parents.
He is survived by his loving family: Wife Sheila, seven children: Curtis and wife Crystal Gateley, Ashland, Mo. Trent and wife Sarah Gateley, of St. Louis, Mo. Odessa Marie Gateley Columbia, Mo. William and fiancee' Emma Vest, Donald, Samuel, Olivia Gateley all of
Everton, Mo.; 3 grandchildren: Katrina, Lauren, and McKenna Rae Gateley; brother, Phil and wife Patsy Gateley, Springfield, Mo.; two sisters: Linda and Dean Wilson, Cordorva, Tenn. and Kathy and husband Bill Tummons, Saddlebrook, Mo.; numerous nieces and nephews and his
extended Beasley family.
Services will be Monday, March 21, 2016, 11:00 a.m. in Wilson Brim Daniel Chapel, Ash Grove with Rev. Fred Royer officiating with interment following in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Mo.
with Military Honors.
Family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, from 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorials may be given, in his memory, to the Everton American Legion.
