Obituary

Larry E. Jones, 81 of Ash Grove, went to be with Jesus on February 22, 2021. He was born on May 13, 1939 in Stark City, MO to Eugene and Janice (Mallory) Jones. On June 26, 1959 Larry and Betty Hawes were united in marriage and shared over 61 years together.

Larry gave his heart to Jesus at the age of 19 and was an active member of Ash Grove First Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School in the children's department, a leader of the RAs, a deacon, and sang bass in the choir. Larry was also a community leader. He was a volunteer fire fighter, EMT for the volunteer ambulance service, city council member and a school board member. Larry enjoyed the outdoors whether it was fishing, hunting, camping, or working on the farm. Larry adored his family. He was always willing to help with the family DIY projects, but he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Larry will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him.

Larry is Preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Janice Jones; daughter, Sherry Lynn Jones; and brother, Robert Jones.

Larry is survived by his wife Betty Jones; children, Terry Jones and wife Becky, Kerry Rector and husband David, Gary Jones and wife Sara; grandchildren, Jessica Reighard and husband Nathan, Lindsey Broussard and husband Trey, Jacob Rector, Adrianna Rector, Austin Jones and wife Madi, Brant Jones and wife Kristen, Emily McThompson; 6 great grandchildren and 2 in the womb; sister Sharon Morgan and husband Jim; brother, Leon Jones and wife Karen; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be from 5:00PM-7:00PM on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove. Funeral services will be 10:00AM, Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Ash Grove First Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Johns Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be given in Larry's name to the Ash Grove First Baptist Church Building Fund or The Children's Home in Mt. Vernon and may be left at the funeral home.

The family requests that visitors be comfortable while attending services. Face masks are not required, but are welcome.
