Lawrence Eugene Hicks, 76 of Walnut Grove, Mo. passed away in his home Monday evening, May 18, 2015 at 8:42 p.m. following an extended
illness.

Gene, the son of Carl and Nellie Goforth Hicks, was born near Walnut Grove, Mo., November 7, 1938. He grew up in the area and graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1957. He was parts manager for Wilkerson Motors for several years. He was a self employed, Backhoe Service owner and operator for numerous years. He was a member of the O'Sullivan Masonic Lodge #7 A.F. & A.M. of Walnut Grove, Mo. He attended the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Aldrich, Mo.

Gene and Georgia were united in marriage on April 7, 1981.
Together they were privileged to share 34 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Clarence Hicks and sister, Katie Morgan.

He is survived by his loving family: wife, Georgia; six children:
Travis and wife Kristin Hicks of Springfield, Mo., Dennis and wife Lisa Neely of Nolanville, Tenn., Cindy and husband Steve Argo, Dadeville, Mo., Russell and wife Doris Neely of Dadeville, Mo., Steven and wife Ginger Neely of Walnut Grove and Darren and wife Tanya Vest of Springfield, Mo.; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, three brothers: Gary, David and Danny
Hicks; and four sisters: Betty Hall, Norma McClelland, Carol Lester, and Judy Fortner and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in Wilson Brim Daniel Chapel, Walnut Grove, Mo. with Rev. Brett Sharp officiating.

Visitation will follow the services in the funeral home.

Memorials may be given, in his memory to the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Aldrich, Mo.
