Lawrence Wayne Simmons, 74, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023. He was born on January 29, 1949, to Ora and Emma (Sullivan) Simmons. On July 24, 1971, Lawrence and Sandra Hicks were united in marriage and shared over 51 years together.

Lawrence was a 1967 Ash Grove High School graduate. He enjoyed trains, flowers, and gardening. Lawrence was a man of God and loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Sandra Simmons; children, April DeVore, Tim Simmons and wife Venus, Tommy Simmons and wife Teresa; 28 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; nephew, David Simmons; niece, DeDe Elrod; other family and many friends.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, brother, and 3 sisters.

Visitation will be 6:00PM-7:30PM, Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Trinity Pentecostal Church, 530 S. Miller Ave, Springfield, MO 65802. Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM, Friday, March 10, 2023, at Sinking Creek Cemetery, Everton, MO.
