Leslie "Les" Edwin Tummons was born on October 27, 1947, to Bill and Joyce Tummons. On July 6, 2023, Les passed peacefully, asleep in his home in Taft, Texas.

Les is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Joyce; sisters, Jenny and Sue; beloved wife, Shirley; and son, Michael.

Les is survived by daughters, Angela (Kevin) and Brandie; son, Austin (Isabel); 15 grandchildren + 1 due October 23; 2 great grandchildren + 2 more later this year 2023.

Les grew up in Walnut Grove and attended WHS all 12 years of school. After graduation, Les married the love of his life on June 12, 1967. They were the epitome of true love. Rarely were they ever apart. They were a Godly example of what marriage and love were, to all who knew them. Shortly after getting married, Les enlisted in the Army and went to Vietnam. Les continued his career in the Army for 25 years, retiring as a 1st Sergeant in 1991. Family was very important to him. Les always made time for his children and extended family; children's school/sport activities, fishing, and hunting. Les enjoyed working with 4H and FFA, enriching young minds. Les' grandchildren and great grandchildren were such an extra light in his life. They loved sitting in "Poppy's" lap and talking- this extended to many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews. Les will be truly missed by all those who knew him. He left a legacy of kindness, intelligence, humility, and love.

Visitation will be from noon until service time, Saturday, June 15, 2023, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Walnut Grove. Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM at the funeral home, with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery.
