Mrs. Lucille (Bookout) Grantham, 90, of Walnut Grove passed away on Friday morning September 11, 2015 in the Ash Grove Health Care Center, Ash Grove, Mo.
Lucille, the daughter of Clem and Virgie (Chase) Bookout was born, November 30, 1924 in Branson, Mo. She grew up in the Branson area and graduated from Branson High School in
1942. She attended S.M.S. now (M.S.U.) and received her Bachelor of Education Degree. Lucille taught elementary education in the Walnut Grove School System, retiring after
30 years of service. She was a longtime active member of the Walnut Grove 1st Baptist Church,
active in the W.M.U. and taught Sunday School for many years.
Lucille Bookout and Gene Grantham were united in marriage, May 23, 1948. Together they were privileged to share over 44 years. Gene preceded her in death January 29, 1993. Also
preceding her were her parents, two brothers: Fred and Buddy Bookout and sister, Jane Bookout.
She is survived by her loving family: daughter, Nita and husband Ken Surritte of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and son, Randy and wife Janice Grantham of Walnut Grove, Mo; four
grandchildren: Amanda and Josh Grantham and Kendra Surritte and Kelsey and husband Jeremy
Baldwin; and three great grandchildren: Ted, T.J. and Chevy.
Services will be held on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Walnut Grove Chapel, with Rev. Scott Killingsworth officiating with interment following in Greene Lawn Cemetery, Walnut Grove, Mo.
Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. today (Sunday) in the Walnut Grove Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Hearts and Hands International (Nita's orphanages
in China)
