Marcus ("Mark") Myron Marymont Jr., 79, of Falls Church, VA, formerly of Springfield, passed away May 28, 2024. Mark was born in Norfolk, VA on September 6, 1944 to Marcus and Mary Helen (Stalling) Marymont.

Mark is survived by his wife, Katherine ("Kate") (Staley) Marymont; daughter, Emily (Marymont) Sexton and husband James; grandchildren, Reave and Morgan Sexton; brother, Harold Marymont; and sister, Mary Hughes; other family and friends.

Mark's early life was spent traveling the world with his family, eventually settling in southwest Missouri. Mark's career began with his lifelong love of rock-n-roll. He was a disc jockey at KICK in Springfield and later became a features reporter for Springfield News Leader and papers around the country. He and Kate, also a journalist, were married for almost 47 years, and as they moved around the country, they always seemed to find their way back home to Springfield. After several years in Florida, in 2008 they moved to northern Virginia to be closer to Mark's daughter, Emily and her family, notably his grandchildren who gave him the title "Baba". Throughout their lives, Mark would enjoy weekly dinners with his grandchildren.

Mark will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. The family will host a memorial at the Metropolitan Grill in Springfield on July 20 from 4-7 after a private service. In lieu of flowers, they ask that domains be made to the Glioblastoma Foundation.
