May 3, 1964 – December 6, 2022
Mark Allen Hughes, Sr, 58, of Willard, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. He was born on May 3, 1964, to James and Dianne Hughes.
On June 3, 1989, Mark and Tracey Hughes were united in marriage and shared 27 years together. Together they had two sons, Mark Allen Hughes, Jr. and Jacob Paul Hughes.
Mark was a resident of Walnut Grove where he graduated high school in 1982. He served in the US Navy for 7 years, on the USS Blakely American Destroyer and as a Military Police officer at the Naval Air Station in Belle Chase Louisiana. He enjoyed a successful career with Shell Pipe Line Corporation and retired as a Process Safety Engineer. He coached and mentored youth athletics for 19 years and is still known as "Coach". He volunteered in church as a Sunday School teacher and sang on the worship team. Mark was an avid wood worker, hunter, and fisherman with a driving passion in everything that he did. He instilled his love of sports and outdoors into his legacy of sons and nephews. His big heart and unpredictable sense of humor made a lasting impact on all who met him. Mark loved his family, and most recently welcomed two precious grandsons, Henry and Porter. He would always say, "You're gonna miss me when I'm gone!" He most certainly will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Mark is survived by his children, Mark Hughes Jr. and wife Rebecca, Jacob Hughes; grandchildren, Henry Hughes and Porter Hughes; father, James Hughes Sr. and wife Linda; siblings, Jimmy Hughes and wife Terri, Cathy Walls and husband Lonnie; significant other, Lynda Vivas; and the mother of his children, Tracey Hughes. He also had many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, family and friends.
Mark was preceded in death by mother, Dianne Donegan; sisters Paula Kay and Linda Kay, Grandmother Ellen Hughes and Grandfather Paul Hughes, Grandpa Glen Stewart and his precious buddy Scooter.
Visitation will be from 6:00PM-8:00PM, Monday, December 12, 2022, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove, MO. Funeral services will be 10:00AM, Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove with burial to follow at Wesley Cemetery, Willard.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Wounded Warriors and may be left at the funeral home.
