Mary Ann
(Timon) Hawk
April 2, 1947 – December 3, 2025
Mary Ann Timon Hawk, 78, passed away on December 3, 2025, in Ash Grove, Missouri, following her decline due to Alzheimer's disease.
She was born on April 2, 1947, in Shreveport, Louisiana. From a young age, Mary Ann had a heart for learning and an unwavering commitment to helping others grow. She devoted more than 40 years to education, touching countless lives through her patient and compassionate teaching. In her later years, she focused on adult education and GED preparation, offering encouragement and opportunity to those working to better their futures.
On June 6, 1980, Mary Ann married Sam Hawk. Their relationship, like many long marriages, was marked by both love and challenges. They shared 43 years together, and despite the complexities between them, their bond endured. Sam remained faithfully by her side throughout her illness and at the time of her passing.
Mary Ann had a deep love for animals and spent many years volunteering with the Humane Society, often bringing home rescued dogs and cats that needed extra care. She and Sam also kept a lively assortment of farm animals over the years—pigs, cows, horses, goats, rabbits, donkeys, and more. Whether it was a stray from the shelter or a creature on the farm, Mary Ann always found room for one more, much to Sam's ongoing amusement and occasional exasperation.
Mary Ann loved her family deeply and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She also faced personal struggles shaped by past hurts and broken trust, burdens she carried for many years. Her family chooses to remember her with understanding and love, honoring both her strengths and her complexities, and the ways she did her best throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lou Ann Owens and W.E. Timon, and by her granddaughter, Crystal Nixon.
She is survived by her son, Scott Coburn, and his wife, Traci; her grandchildren, Ashlyn Coburn and Evan Coburn; her daughter, Marci, and grandchildren Kirah, Hannah, and Reuben; her stepdaughter, Christina Conrad, and her husband, Randy, along with grandchildren Heather Conrad and Nicole Walker; and her stepdaughter, Suzanne Drake, and her husband, Warren, along with granddaughter Laura Brooks; as well as 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Paula Yates; and brother, Howard Timon.
Mary Ann will be laid to rest in Highland Cemetery in Mansfield, Louisiana. She spent much of her childhood in Mansfield with her grandparents, and the town always held a special place in her heart. The family will announce memorial service arrangements at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to: Friends of Highland Cemetery, P.O. Box 149, Mansfield, LA 71052
