Larry "Max" King, 91, of Ash Grove, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018.

Max, the son of Samuel Thorne (S.T.) and Sarah Ethel (Lemmon) King, was born in Ash Grove, MO, on June 18, 1927. On August 28, 1954 Max and Doris Kirby were united in marriage; they shared over 63 years together.

Max was a life-long area resident. He graduated from Ash Grove in 1945 and then went to SMS and was a member of the track team. Max was a local farmer and was an active member of his community throughout his life. His proudest moment was hosting a local hog roast and fundraiser for Kit Bond. Max loved his church and was a life-long member. He was a leader there and always wanted it to grow and thrive. He enjoyed farming, and showing his Duroc hogs. Max also loved to travel. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him.

Max is survived by his wife, Doris King, of the home; daughter, Debbie Pelkie and husband James of Greenville, SC; and grandson, Gregory Pelkie and wife Kelly of Lakewood, CO.

Max was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Breanna Sue King; brothers, Homer King, Harry King, and Carl King.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 28, 2018, from 1:00PM-until service time at Ash Grove Methodist-Presbyterian Church, Ash Grove, MO. Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM at the church with burial to follow at Ash Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Max's name, to Ash Grove Methodist-Presbyterian Church or CMH Hospice, and may be left at the funeral home.
