Obituary

Melissa Dawn (Sparks) Phillips, age 36, of Springfield, MO went home to be with her Lord on November 24, 2016. She was born in Springfield, MO on November 25, 1979 to Kenny and Sharon Sparks (Enlow). She is survived by her husband Cory Phillips, daughters, Haley Dixon age 16 and Makenzie Dixon age 15 and son Kaleb Dixon age 10, her mother, Sharon Enlow, and her step-father Carl Enlow. She is preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Allen Sparks, her father Kenneth Wayne Sparks; also maternal grandparents, Fred and Lola Johnson and paternal grandparents, Rodney and Betty Wurst; and a cousin, Duane Sullivan.

Melissa was a loving, wife, mother and daughter; she loved all of her children tremendously and they meant the world to her. The most important thing in this life was her family. She was saved at a young age and loved the Lord.

She loved the farm where she spent a lot of time with her grandparents, Fred and Lola Johnson growing up.

She attended Ash Grove High School until she was 15 years old. She moved to Arkansas when she was16 years old to live with her Dad and attended Pangburn High School in Pangburn, Arkansas. That is where she met Jason Dixon.

The family later moved to Missouri to be close to family. She was later married to Cory Phillips on May 14, 2016. She had finally found a love for her and her children that made her life complete. Her happiness was cut short with the diagnosis of breast cancer in July 2016. With love and support of family and friends, she felt confident she would beat this diagnosis. Through the ups and downs she fought hard.

Melissa loved cooking and holidays were very special to her making cookies and fudge with the kids. She was a very giving person in life and in death with the donation of her eyes. She was a very beautiful lady with a heart of gold.

The family was planning to have her a surprise birthday party after Thanksgiving dinner to celebrate her 37th birthday which was the next day. She is now celebrating a birthday party we can't give her.

She will be laid to rest in John's Chapel Cemetery along with her grandparents Fred and Lola Johnson and her brother Kenneth Allen Sparks.
