John "Mike" McGilvry, 81, of Ash Grove passed away, on Tuesday, October 16, 2018.

Mike the son of Herman O. and Nadine (Pierpont) McGilvry, was born in Springfield, MO, on August 11, 1937. Mike married Wilma Ruth Redfearn on March 10, 1957 and to this union one daughter and one son was born.

Mike graduated from Bois D'Arc High School in 1955, he then went on to faithfully serve in the United States Navy. After serving in the Navy, he went into the National Guard and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer (W3). While in the National Guard he began his farming career and in 1982 he purchased the land with the famous Round Barn. Mike had many hobbies and liked to keep busy with, hot rods, fishing, flying, and creating stories. His favorite hobby was spending time with his family whom he absolutely adored.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wilma; and brother, Thomas McGilvry .

Mike is survived by his children, Pam Dean and husband Danny, Michael McGilvry, all of Ash Grove; grandchildren, Bryan Dean and wife Stephanie of Ash Grove, Jessica Sledge and husband Eli of Lee's Summit, Devin Dean and fiancée Katie Skelton of Willard, Landon McGilvry and wife Melissa of Springfield; great-grandchildren, Avery Dean, Hadley (Hattie) Dean, Jackson Sledge, Cassidy McGilvry; brother, Daniel McGilvry and wife Vickie of Lone Jack; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many friends.

Visitation will be Friday, October 19, 2018 from 6:00PM-8:00PM in the Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove, MO. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 2:00PM, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove, MO. Burial will follow in Ash Grove Cemetery, Ash Grove, MO.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Bois D'Arc United Methodist Church and may be left at the funeral home.
