Russell Derwood Dawson was born August 20, 1953, and entered into eternal rest March 23, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents Herbert Derwood Dawson and Mary Lou Browning, wife Charlotte Dawson, sister Sandra and husband Don Morrison and sister Bonnie Dawson, his grandson Nicholas Cashio, and his great grandson Franklin Shock. He is survived by his sons Scott Cashio(Ginger), Rodney Dawson (Melissa), Ashley Dawson (Ashley), sisters Cindy Calderon (Bob), Wanda Wright (Ray) grandchildren Hope Shock (Britt), Halee Cashio, Sydnee Cashio, Maxwell Cashio (Hannah), Kaden Dawson, Grady Dawson, Kennedy Dawson, and Riley Dawson, great grandson Henry Shock, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Russell grew up in Miller, Missouri. He married Charlotte Beasley in 1972. He worked iron for the majority of his life with a gap in the 1990s when he ran a successful siding company. He and Charlotte raised three sons while making multiple significant moves for his ironwork. When he wasn't working he was probably in the woods or on the water; shooting whitetail deer or catching big bass. Russell was a perpetual joker. You knew you were all right if he was giving you a hard time. He loved to tease his grandkids about everything. Especially his grandsons over their shared love of hunting and fishing. The boys could hunt slick heads, but they had to leave the big bucks for Papa Russell. On his birthday he was always turning 25. If you weren't on the same page about Nascar or football, you better be ready to hear about it. He adored his grandchildren and always had their favorite treats ready when they came to spend the night. He was loved by many and will be missed tremendously.

Public Masonic Services will be 5:00PM, Monday, March 27, 2023, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove, with visitation to immediately follow until 7:00PM. Funeral services will be 11:00AM, Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home with burial to follow at Ash Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Ash Grove Care to Learn and may be left at the funeral home.
