Shelby Cecil Chism passed away at his home near Ash Grove on June 30, 2019 at the age of 83.

Shelby was a retired stockbroker who worked in brokerage firms in St. Louis for forty years. From 1987-1989 he served as president of the four state region NASD. He was a Mason and a Past Master of the Equality Lodge #497. He served for thirteen years on the school board of the Newburg RII school district including as vice president and president. He was able to present their High School Diplomas to both his sons.

He is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Thena Lampe Chism; son, Andrew Lucas Chism (Holly); daughter, Connie Louise Tyler; and sister, Mary Longinotti. Five granddaughters, Jennifer Daniels, Ashley Tyler, Justine Tyler, Stephanie Averbeck, and Kathryn Chism. One grandson, Daniel Chism. Two great-granddaughters, Ella Daniels, and Shyane Averbeck. Five great-grandsons, Noah Tyler, Matthew Daniels, Lucas Daniels, Peton Averbeck, and Rylan Averbeck.

Preceding him in death were his mother, Faye Brock Chism; his son Michael Francis Chism; his daughter Elizabeth Anne Chism; and two sisters, Oleta Gandy and Linda Dudek.

Shelby was a man known for his integrity, business acumen, and dry sense of humor. He placed his family first in his life but was always available to help those in need.

Visitation will be Friday, July 5, 2019 from 1:00PM until service time at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove, MO. Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM, at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Ash Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Ash Grove Sunshine Center.
