Shirley "Jack" Christian, 88, of Walnut Grove, passed away, on Thursday, August 17, 2017.

Shirley the daughter of George D. and Helen (Kelley) Crussell, was born in Walnut Grove, MO, on January 20, 1929.  On July 27, 1947 Shirley and Allen Christian were united and marriage and to this union two daughters were born.

Shirley was a life-long area resident and member of Oak Grove Presbyterian Church.  Shirley worked at the Heers Department store in downtown Springfield before beginning her career as a State of Missouri Corrections officer where she retired from, after serving in that role for many years.   She had many diverse talents in life and seemed to excel in them all.  She enjoyed, photography, cooking, music, arranging flowers, shooting guns, and painting.  Shirley also enjoyed traveling, taking flying lessons, sunsets, and a good St. Louis Cardinals game.  Shirley was a 35-year member of the singing group, Sweet Adelines.  Granny Jack enjoyed her family most of all, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.   She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her.

Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca Holman and husband Rex, Theresa Friend; grandchildren, Travis Holman and wife Jennifer, Tylan Holman and wife Kristy, Tiffany Durham and husband Calvan, Brandon Simpson and wife Becca, Dakota Friend all of Walnut Grove; 12 great grandchildren; one sister, June Richter of Bois D' Arc; nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jean Richter.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 4:00PM-6:00PM at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Walnut Grove, MO.  Funeral services will be at 11:00AM, Monday, August 21, 2017 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Walnut Grove, MO.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Oak Grove Presbyterian Church and Cemetery Fund and may be left at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home.
