Stephen William Nunn, 69, of Springfield passed away on February 6, 2026.

Stephen was born on August 15, 1956, to Carl "Bill" and June (Combs) Nunn in Springfield, Missouri.

Stephen was actively involved in the physics department at Missouri State University, where his curiosity and passion for learning were evident to all who knew him. He was deeply spiritual and had a genuine love for helping others, always creating welcoming spaces that brought people together. Stephen was a loyal friend and a loving, devoted father who took great pride in his family. Self-taught on the piano, he found joy in music, as well as in restoring and exploring old radios, HAM radio, and shortwave listening—interests that reflected both his technical mind and his appreciation for connection beyond boundaries.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and June Nunn and daughter, Julie Nunn.

Stephen is survived by his son, Alexander and Alexander's wife, Alexandra (yes really); grandsons, Carter and Vance; and many friends.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
