Rev/Dr. Steven Charles Spalding, 78 of Nixa, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2021. He was born May 6, 1943 in Harbor Springs, MI, to John E. & Sarah E. Spaulding (McGinnis). Steven was one of 11 children.
He graduated high school at Chillacotee, undergraduate work at University of MN and South Dakota University, and masters work at University of Missouri. Steven also attended Church of God Christ Seminary at West Virginia. He was an ordained Free Will Baptist Minister and an ordained Methodist Minister. Steven was a member of Nixa Minister Alliances, Nixa V.F.W., Nixa American Legion, N.R.A., and Cowboy Poets Association. He was a former member of Nashville Country Music Association. Steven has been a professional singer/song writer for over 50 years. He was nominated in 1977 by the CMA in Nashville, TN, as male vocalist of the year, single record of the year and entertainer of the year. He toured as a gospel recording artist and has written over three thousand songs, producing sixteen albums. He has performed on the Grand Ol' Opry & Wheeling Jamboree, and several TV & radio shows over the years. Steven was in the private practice for many years as a Christian Family Therapist. Most recently, Steven has been employed by Midwest Design Supply of Nixa, MO as an outside sales and estimator. Steven enjoyed the family at Midwest Supply. Steven was pastor of many churches over the years, throughout his lifetime he has met some amazing people, and great friends
Steven is survived his wife Carol; two stepsons; 5 children; brother, David; two sisters, Rebecca and Ellen; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Steven preceded in death by parents; brothers, John, Tommy, and Robin; sisters, Barbara, Shirley, Susan, and Sally. Steven's family all from MI, WI, MN, and AR.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM, Monday, June 7, 2021 at Rays Springs Cemetery, Everton, MO.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Steven's name to American Lung Association or American Heart Association.
