Velma Jane (Cook) Young 83, of Walnut Grove, Mo. passed away Sunday morning, April 17, 2016 at 8:00 a.m., in her home following an extended illness.
Velma, the daughter of William Enos and Pearl (Thompson) Cook, was born October 13, 1932. Velma was born in Clever, Missouri in Christian County and was a longtime resident of the Walnut Grove area. She graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1951. She was a homemaker and member of Center Baptist Church. She had been an active 50 year member of the Russell Chapter of the O.E.S. of Ash Grove.
Velma Cook and Edward Young were united in marriage on July 27, 1952. To this union a son was born. Together, Velma and Edward were
privileged to share over 57 years. Edward preceded her in death on March 4, 2010, also preceding her were her parents, seven brothers; Leonard, Clifford, Raymond, Efton, Earl, Theodore and Aubrey and sister; Mae Bolin
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Marty and LaDonna Young; granddaughter: Marcy Watson; great granddaughter; Megan Jean Young; two sisters, Lola Gardner and Nona Blevins and brother; Donald Cook and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery, Willard, Mo. with Rev. Scott Killingsworth officiating
with interment following under the care and direction of Wilson Brim
