Violet Rust, 98, of Ash Grove, MO, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023. Violet was born March 25, 1924, in Elk Creek, MO, the daughter of Clarence and Clara (Bennett) Harmon. She was united in marriage to Glen Rust on August 16, 1942. They were privileged to share 74 years together before Glen's passing in 2016.

Violet was a member of Elwood and Ash Grove Assembly of God. She was a preacher's kid growing up and her faith was an important part of her life.  During World War II, while her husband was in the Navy, she moved to Columbus, Ohio and was a rivet and weld inspector for navy corsair and helldiver navy fighter planes at Curtis Wright Aircraft. Violet also retired as a cook for Ash Grove Schools for 19 years, 10 of those years, serving as manager. She was well known for her pies and was proud at how much money they could bring at church pie auctions. Violet raised her 5 boys, but she was lovingly known as Granny, and that was her favorite title, she loved her family.

Violet is survived by her sons, Daniel C. Rust, of Aldrich, MO, Troy G. Rust and wife Susan, of Walnut Grove, Tommy L. Rust and wife Shelly, of Ash Grove; one foster daughter, Carmela Jones, of Willard; two daughters-in-law, Lisa Clinton and husband Kevin, of Everton, Dana Rust of Springfield; 19 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; MO; several nieces, nephews,  and other family and friends.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glen Rust; two sons, Richard "Joe" Rust, Ronald Rust; brother, Vernon Harmon; sisters, Velma King and Betty Groom.

Visitation will be 10:00AM until service time, Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Ash Grove Cemetery.
