Wayne Richard "Dick" Fortner was born on January 16 th , 1942, to Ralph and Iona (Binkley) Fortner. He departed this life on March 28 th , 2022, after a long illness. Dick married Janice Lemmon on May 23 rd , 1963, and they shared 58 years of marriage together. To this union was born one daughter, Diana Lynn.

Dick was a member of Brighton Assembly of God church and attended regularly until his health failed. He loved his church family, but most of all loved the Lord. He was also passionate about his family and spending time with his two grandchildren. After his retirement he especially enjoyed doing fun activities with his grandkids .

Dick worked for Dairy Farmer's of America from which he retired after 42 years. He also raised beef cattle and was a sportsman who loved to quail hunt and train his bird dogs. He was well known among family and friends for recalling and telling stories of the past.

Dick is proceeded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law Lawrence and Blanche Lemmon, and one infant granddaughter. He is survived by his wife Janice of the home, his one daughter Diana (Jim) Lower of Fair Play , granddaughter Lindsey (Matt) Anderson of Battlefield, grandson Luke Lower of Springfield, and great grandson Henry Anderson. He is also survived by his brothers Francis, Dale, David, and sister Gail Greer.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00PM-8:00PM, Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Walnut Grove. Funeral services will be 10:00AM, Friday, April 1, 2022 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
